Michael Violette, Director, American Council of Independent Laboratories

Mr. Violette is on the Board of Directors of The American Council of Independent Laboratories. Mr. Violette is a licensed professional engineer with over 25 years of experience in the laboratory and training business. He works with industry and government standards organizations developing measurement and evaluation standards for new products and technologies. He has international business development experience, opening operations in Asian and Europe and travels internationally seeking cooperation, understanding and development of standards-based trade. Mr. Violette writes extensively about technology and trade issues and has extensive speaking experience, addressing government and industry groups on product qualification systems in the US and abroad.

 

Chandler von Schrader, National Manager of Home Performance, Environmental Protection Agency

Mr. von Schrader has been in the energy efficiency industry since 1981, primarily in the Washington DC metro area. His first energy efficiency work was selling and installing domestic hot water solar systems. From solar Chandler moved into providing utility residential energy audits and performed thousands. This quickly led to running weatherization crews for local utilities and delivering demand side management (DSM) activities that included: commercial lighting, large scale multi-family lighting, low income energy efficiency services, whole house diagnostics and full scale remediation. Along the way Chandler has worked for utilities, an electric cooperative, a weatherization fund, an unregulated utility service company and has been part owner of a kitchen and bath remodeling company and an energy service company (ESCO). For the past five years Chandler has worked for EPA promoting energy efficiency best practices in the HVAC, Home Performance and Remodeling industries and is the national manager of HPwES activities.

 

JC Sekar, General Manager and Managing Director for the ASEAN Operations

 

JC Sekar is the General Manager and Managing Director for the ASEAN Operations of Underwriters Laboratories (UL). In this role, JC has overall responsibility for the strategy, growth and achievement of P&L in this market. This is in addition to his role as the General Manager (Consulting) for UL’s customers in Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa. Founded in 1894, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) is an independent product safety testing and certification organization and has been evaluating thousands of types of products according to national and international safety standards and auditing management systems to international requirements.

JC Sekar has a Masters Degree in Aerospace from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology in India and has extensive International Business experience across Geographies and a wide array of industries. His initial work experience has been in the Military Aerospace Industry and Heavy Engineering Industry for around 8 years. During this period, he worked extensively in the areas of Project Management, Facility Planning, Technology Development, Technology Transfer, Computerization, Supply Chain Management & deployment of Quality Systems. Subsequently, he worked in a reputed consulting company and was involved in competency development and consulting assignments with a large number of organizations primarily in the Engineering and Services sector.

In his over 10 years of experience with UL, JC was responsible for building and managing teams and to oversee the growth and delivery of a wide array of services for UL customers in the Asia Pacific. This service spans across various industries with primary focus on Automotive, Aerospace, Electrical, Electronics, IT, Chemicals and Plastics. This role involved piloting new services and leading geographic expansion of these services into emerging markets such as India, China and more recently Vietnam.

 

Desmond Fraser, President and Founder, Rheintech Laboratories

Mr. Fraser is Director and Founder of AmericanTCB and is President and Founder of Rheintech Laboratories. Mr. Fraser was educated in Germany and has spent the past 28 years in the field of electronics design and test. As President of Rheintech Laboratories, Mr. Fraser oversees the operation testing and evaluation methods for products from land mobile and fixed point-to-point communcations systems, consumer products, sophisticated high frequency (80 GHz) radio communications and sensing systems. Mr. Fraser has developed specialized test techniques for state of the art products requiring government Certification and works with US Federal Regulators to create regimens for new technologies. He has overseen the setup and operation of AmericanTCB in Taiwan and China and travels to Asia several times per year to support and develop the expansion of ATCB in Asia.

 

Steve Koster, EMC Operations Manager, Washington Laboratories

Mr. Koster is EMC Operations Laboratory Manager for Washington Laboratories. Mr. Koster is has over 25 years of experience in the electronics field, with experience in avionics support for communications and control electronics, sophisticated radio frequency, digital systems, commercial and industrial systems. He has supervised the performance of test and evaluation of thousands of devices requiring conformance to international specifications. He provides expert consultation and advice for manufacturers seeking to place products on the international market, including the United States, European Union, China, Japan, Australia and Canada. He provides training on conformance to international requirements and is an expert in EMC, Radio Frequency, Energy and Aerospace specifications. Mr. Koster has travelled to Europe and Asia, most recently to Hefei China at the International Appliance Fair and Exposition.
